They are focused on providing a warm and friendly environment for the children to ensure they have a sense of Belonging, confidence in Being, and opportunity to Become whatever they choose to be!
In addition to the children, the staff are passionate about ensuring the children’s families are engaged and that there is a strong sense of a Pre-school community for families to engage with one another and create long lasting friendships
YELLOW GROUP EDUCATOR
I have been a preschool teacher for over 20 years and started teaching at Watsonia Preschool in 2019.
I love working with children and feel lucky to share a role in their early education. Making connections with the families is very important to me. Living in the local area, means I am lucky enough to continue seeing many children and families that I have taught.
Preschool is such an exciting time for children. I love providing a program that delivers a broad range of experiences and most of all gives the children a really fun and engaging year of kinder.
I have 4 children off my own who all attended Watsonia Preschool. My children have great memories of their time at kinder and I hope everyone walks away from their kinder year with the same feeling.
In my spare time I love watching my girls play netball and visiting my family and spending time together. I always finish my day with some reading to relax.
I have been an Early Childhood Educator for nearly 15 years. After graduating from the University of Melbourne with my Bachelors of Early Childhood Education I began my career working with children with additional needs and then took a leap of faith and moved to London where I lived and worked for nearly 5 years. I taught in some amazing schools and taught both Pre-school and Prep aged children.
On returning to Melbourne I held the position of full time Pre-school Teacher and Educational Leader at a childcare centre in the Banyule area and dropped to part time work to suit the needs of my young family.
In early 2019 I joined the team here at Watsonia Pre-School and run one for the 4 year old groups. I have felt really welcomed by all the families and parent run committee. I love being a part of this community and have even extended our program to the utilise the local area and what it has to offer. I have enjoyed using such facilities as the local library and school to help enrich the program we run.
Another reason why I love this Pre-school so much is watching the children immerse themselves in our Bush Kinder program. Being out in nature seeing the children discovery, explore, take wonder in and be part of the world around us is truly why I love what I do. Children just being children in the great outdoors.
I started my career of working with children in the UK, working within a small Primary School, where I worked for 13 years, primarily with reception children (4-5years) before embarking on our move to Australia.
Watsonia Pre-school is my first Australian job, where I have been an Early Childhood Educator since January 2017. I enjoy watching the children grow and develop ready for school. I especially enjoy Bush Kinder and observing the different types of play and friendships, which develop within this setting. Also it is really lovely seeing the siblings of children who I have previously worked with start Kinder and having that connection with the families.
I have two boys Oscar and Jack, who have adapted to Australian life. As a family we enjoy exploring the amazing countryside which Australia has to offer and camping. Our favourite place to visit is the Great Ocean Road and the Yarra Valley Chocolatier!
I am passionate……
My name is Melissa Loche and I am an Early Childhood Educator at Watsonia Pre-School. I have a Diploma in Early Childhood, and have been working in the industry for the past three years.
At Watsonia Pre-school I’ll be working alongside the team in both the 4 year old groups on a Wednesday. I’m very excited to be part of the teaching staff as well as working with the children watching them grow and develop into the little people that they are. It is also interesting to watch the friendship groups that form through the year. I love spending time with the children and hearing about their lives and the people in them.
